Who doesn’t want to find someone they would not mind spending the rest of their lives with? Someone that you would not mind going through life’s ups and downs with. Someone that supports you in everything that you want to do in life 100% as long as it benefits you as person, and is not harmful to you are the  people you love. When it comes to relationships I guess you could say that I am kinda picky (or at least that is what I have been told). I just feel that you can’t let everyone in your personal circle. Everyone doesn’t need to get know who you are or have an impact on your life. You would be surprised the power that relationships you have with certain people can have on you and your life. I am also big on vibes and how some makes me feel. If I don’t get a comfortable or trusting vibe from you then we probably won’t be talking that long. I always say that I want to be in a relationship were I am willing to give that person my all, but that person loves me enough not to let me. Love and relationships are  about compromise and sacrifice. How much of yourself are you willing to give up for someone else and not only that, but how much of yourself are they willing to let you give of yourself. You don’t want to be with someone that keeps letting you give of yourself and they are not doing the same in return or you give so much of yourself that you turn into a totally different person. I think people let to many people in their lives way to easily these days, everyone is not meant to be a significant other or a friend for that matter.

Today is my bestie Dwaylon Demond Whitmore’s 22nd birthday. I love this guy like a fat kid loves cake. He is one my oldest and closest friends. He listens to me without judging and does not get mad at me when I do the opposite of what I know I should do, especially when it comes to the opposite sex lol. He lets me boss him around and drive his car when we have to take his car (I hate his driving lol). Oh and his favorite artist is Jay-z and so is mine. He’s either going to be a world renown DJ or a Wonderful history teacher. I hope you have a wonderful BDAY and may GOD bless you with many more.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY D AKA DJ LIGHTS OUT!!!

Today my mentors are CELEBRATING  16 years of  marriage. Congratulations Kelvin and Cece (Mr. and Mrs. Walker). They have been together since Cece was a freshman in college. He says she chased after him because he was a senior in college and she says that’s not how she remembers it, she says it was he that chased after her. It’s so funny to hear them tell the story. Oh and I think it’s sooo COOL that Cece proposed (they are an unconventional couple)  and it takes a secure guy to be alright with his girl proposing to him. By the way they are both graduates of HBCUs (Morehouse and Clark College). 

When I think of what Black Love should be, I think of them. There love for each other is unconditional and you can see this just by being around them and watching how they treat each other. I’m glad to have GREAT examples of what a marriage is supposed to be. I doubt they would call their marriage perfect, because no marriage is perfect, but what I’m sure that they would say that their faith in GOD and their willingness to make sacrifices for one another is the reason they have made it this far.

I Love them soooo much, they are truly people that you can count on. They live by their actions and not by just their words alone. I can and do count on them to be examples of the right things to do, not just in a marriage but in life.

I just want to say Congratulations and Happy Anniveray Mr. & Mrs. Walker, may GOD continue to be with you both and continue to bless your marriage. I love you both my second parents!!!

Everyone has there own expectation of you. Probably since you were little people have been expecting things of you whether it be small or big. And if no one has ever expected something of  you in life your not loved. And when I say expecting something of you I do not mean they want to use you for anything or another. When I say expect something from you, I mean as far as wanting you to succeed in life. Such as it was not a surprise that I graduated from high school it was expected, and it was expected of me that I go to college and not just go but graduate. It is expected that I  become a contributing member of society. I honestly do not know where I would be if I did not have people in my life that expected things from me. At the same time it comes a point in time were you can’t please everyone. At a certain point in your life you have to start having expectations of yourself, and start living up to your own expectations. The only thing we really owe are families is to be a productive citizen/human being. But if you do not expect anything of yourself and all you do is the things that others expect, you are no longer living your own life. Sometimes you have to disappoint others to be happy and you are not going to meet everyone’s expectations of you so you might as well meet your own expectations first.

I have always believed in the power of positive/negative thinking, but now I’m starting to believe this theory more and more. Thinking negative brings negativity and thinking positive brings positivity. I know sometimes when the day is going wrong, and nothing seems to want to go your way it is hard to think positive thoughts. Just the other day, I had to make a conicious decision that I was going to think positive thoughts and my day started to change. I know it sounds cliche, however I do believe that we are in control of or happiness and how we feel. Only you can decide how much a situation affects your life. More people should make a conicious effort to be happy, even when something is going wrong. We as people have to start taking control of your circumstances/situations and not let them control us.

When is it time to completely let go and move on from someone, even though U may still be in love with that person? How do U let go of someone that you feel is meant for U? Do U give up even though U love that person with all of UR being? Do U let go even though there might be someone else out there that is better, but you feel like the person is the BEST for U?  Do U give up even when after trying to talk to other people U still feel that person is the one you want? Why is it so harder for some than others to let go? They say if U let it go and it comes back it will be stronger. Why should U risk letting go of what you feel is right? When is time to stop fighting? Do U stop fighting when U don’t have any fight left in U or do you stop fighting before the fight bruises U too severely for the next person? Does it take for that person to say they don’t want U anymore to realize it is time to let go? When is it time to let go and how do U know?

Drive is defined as the effort it takes to reach a goal. When working towards your goals whether big are small you have to have some drive or as my mom says “you have to have some want to.” You can have GREAT ideas, but if you cannot or if you do not work to put them into action your ideas are pointless and it gives room for people to take your ideas and use them as their own. For example, I have decided that I want to write and produce documentaries but what good are my ideas that I have for documentaries if I do not take the necessary measures needed to make them an reality. Also if I share my ideas with someone that has more drive than me, they might take my ideas and use them as there own. Find what drives you and use that to reach the goals you have made for yourself.

I am so excited about my trip to DC this weekend. I won’t be back at my “home by the sea” but it’s close enough and I will be with people that made my time and experience at Hampton memoriable. I am ready to board that plane now. Even if I don’t make it to the game this is about to be a GREAT weekend!!!
